Vijayawada: “It is now or never for the students of this state. Plenty of employment opportunities were created in Hyderabad. We can’t lose it,” said Samaikyandhra Teachers Joint Action Committee Convenor Kamalakar at a press conference here on Sunday. The teachers and the lectures of 13 districts gathered in the city and discussed their action plan of agitations supporting Samaikyandhra. Kamalakar, addressing a large gathering said that APNGOs had been on strike for a week.

There were 30 teachers associations in the state in both Seemandhra and Telangana. It took some time for them to take a decision on Samaikyandhra. A majority of the associations had agreed to agitate for Samaikyandhra as the future of students of this region was linked to the bifurcation of the state, he said.

He said Hyderabad was developed as an IT hub in the state and employment opportunities were created there. Many international Universities are also located in Hyderabad. “Our students will become non- local candidates if the state gets bifurcated,” he said. Kamalakar said the Teachers JAC would serve the strike notice to the Chief Secretary on Monday and start the strike on August 22. Junior lecturers, university professors had also expressed their support to this strike.
