In the view of Cyclone Phethai, the Andhra Pradesh government declared two days holidays for schools i.e, on Monday and Tuesday. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm is likely to move north-north westwards and cross Andhra Pradesh between Machilipatnam and Kakinada on Monday causing heavy rainfall in the area.

The heavy rainfall is expected to continue for the next two days. Following the issue, the East Godavari district collector Kartikeya Misra announced two-day holiday to schools in eight coastal mandals. The collector also said that they have arranged 110 rehabilitation centres in the district to aid the people residing in low-lying areas.
