The third phase of Gram Panchayat polling began in Telangana for 3,506 Panchayat posts across the state. Around 11,667 candidates have been contesting for the sarpanch posts and 67,316 candidates for 27,583 wards.
As many as 32,055 polling centres have been arranged for the smooth conduct of the final phase of Panchayat polls. The polling will conclude at 1 pm and the counting of votes will take place from 2 pm.
Meanwhile, the polling in 25 panchayats Mangapet Mandal of Jayashankar-Bhupalapally district has been stopped by the election commission pertaining to the orders of the court. A petition was filed in the court asking to conduct the polls in rotation order as the officials had reserved all the sarpanch posts to ST.
