New Delhi: AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Digvijay Singh on Wednesday called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and briefed her on the situation in Andhra Pradesh. While the Seemandhra region continued to be on the boil, the Telangana region, too, was getting restive, over the delay in setting in motion the process for creation of Telangana. Antony Committee has also held discussions with representatives of both the Seemandhra and Telangana.
Digvijay Singh later said that the Union Home Ministry was drafting the Resolution and once it was ready, it would go to the Cabinet. Then it would be referred to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. He sought to allay apprehensions that the process was either stalled or slowed down and reaffirmed that the work on Telangana was progressing. Rejecting the charge against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy that he was indifferent, Digvijay Singh said, “The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister was elected by the united Andhra Pradesh. So he has to be working for all regions.”
With folded hands, Digvijay Singh appealed to the APNGOs to end their agitation and return to work. The private establishments and the private business were going on. When the private transport, schools and hospitals are functioning, then there is no justification for the government offices to remain shutdown, he remarked. Digvijay Singh assured that the APNGOs should come back to work and all their apprehensions will be allayed and all their concerns will be addressed.
Responding to TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu’s charge of match-fixing between the Congress and the YSRCP, Digvijay Singh said there was no match-fixing of the Congress with the YSRCP. But the TDP leader should explain whether he had a match-fixing with the BJP.
