New Delhi: The government has drawn a roadmap to modernise its approach towards the publishing domain including digitisation of the publications division, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Bimal Julka said Saturday.

"The proposed roadmap would focus on e-mode methods and strategies for marketing and distribution, publication of e-books, digitisation of content, restoration of archival print material and schemes that would modernise the approach of the division towards the publishing domain," said Julka while inaugurating the Publications Division's pavilion at the New Delhi World Book Fair.

The division comes under the ministry.

"This initiative would invite ideas and suggestions from the people for improvement in all critical segments of the publications domain," said Julka.

"The suggestions would be received on the social media platforms of the ministry and then the information would be collated and reviewed by a committee of experts," he added.

The New Delhi Book fair began in the capital Saturday and this year Singapore is the guest country and South Korea the focus country.

This time around 30 countries are participating at the fair which is organised by the National Book Trust (NBT) in association with the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) at Pragati Maidan.

The theme of the fair is "Suryodaya: Emerging Voices from Northeast India" and the nine-day affair is expected to see discussions, workshops and interactive sessions with authors and illustrators
