Bengaluru: A leopard entered a Bengaluru school early on Sunday morning and attacked at least six people who were trying to capture it. The animal entered the campus of the VIBGYOR school in Whitefield around 4 am, CCTV cameras show. It remained undetected until late afternoon when it attacked one of the school staffers.

Forest department officials and police were called in to capture the animal. Since then, the leopard has already injured six people including a news cameraman who got too close and environmentalist Sanjay Gubbi who was part of the rescue team.

The leopard had escaped from the school premises during the day and was hiding inside nearby bushes. As authorities were in the midst of operations to capture it, it re-entered the school building by scaling a compound wall, officials said, adding that it has now been tranquillised.

The scene of the attack was captured by television channels which had arrived at the spot to cover the operation. Police had a hard time controlling the crowd that had gathered at the spot
