There was never breakdown in BJP-PDP coalition

With the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) closer towards government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh on Friday asserted that there was never a breakdown in the coalition between the two.

"There has never been a break down in the coalition between the BJP and the PDP. It is just a continuation of the process which started about a year back," Singh said a day after the PDP declared Mehbooba Mufti as the chief ministerial candidate.

"There were no differences but when you are in coalition then you have to take care of each other's priority and each other's preferences and that is what we do in a healthy coalition. And I am sure, this is going to augur well for the state of Jammu and Kashmir," he added.

Meanwhile, former deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh said the PDP-BJP coalition was moving in the right direction, adding that the future course of action with regard to government formation would be decided soon.

The BJP MLAs in Jammu and Kashmir are holding parleys today to take a call on government formation in the state.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra will also hold separate meetings in Jammu today with PDP president Mehbooba and state BJP chief Sat Sharma to seek their formal viewpoints on government formation.

Jammu and Kashmir was placed under Governor's rule on January 8 after the demise of then chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7.

PDP with 27 MLAs and BJP with 25 members had formed an alliance on March one last year with Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as the Chief Minister.
