Guwahati:Twin blast had rocked Assam and Meghalaya on Thursday morning after several militant groups of North East India had jointly called boycott the Independence Day celebration. According to the reports, an IED went off on Thursday morning in a drain at Badalbheta village near Doomdooma in Upper Assam\'s Tinsukia district.

According to the reports, an IED went off on Thursday morning in a drain at Badalbheta village near Doomdooma in Upper Assam's Tinsukia district.

There are no reports of any casualties in the blast.

Tinsukia district police said that suspected ULFA(I) militants had triggered the blast.

he blast occurred at around five days after, 14 civilians killed by suspected NDFB(S) militants in a market in Kokrajhar district.

On the other hand, a blast went off in Meghalaya's South Garo Hills district on Thursday morning triggered by suspected GNLA militants.

On Aug 10, twin blast rocked Manipur, where a seven year old minor was injured.

Several militant groups including ULFA(I), GNLA had jointly called boycott the Independence Day celebration.

Meanwhile, Assam DGP Mukesh Sahai said that adequate security measures have taken up across the state ahead of I-Day celebration.
