ka2 Kavali (Nellore): The 42nd Bharat Nirman programme and the Public Relations Festival at the American Baptist Missionaries ground in Kavali received good response from the people. The festival was organised to create awareness among the people about various welfare schemes of the government.A Scores of people from the surrounding areas of Kavali including women and school students had come to the festival on the occasion. Many schools in the town have brought their students for the programme on Monday. The presentations by the Education Department about midday meal scheme and other welfare schemes were well received by the school students. The students have noted down important aspects in their note books during the programme. The Electricity Department had organised presentations on conservation of power and solar energy systems. Speaking on the occasion, a student of Master School SD Javed said, "The festival had been very useful to us. The presentations on solar energy systems and conservation of power are very interesting." Murali Krishna, a teacher of Master School said that by writing names of the departments and other things in Telugu had made it easy for the students to read and understand. A An intermediate student Prasad lauded the festival for exhibiting presentations of all the departments at one place. Especially the presentations by fire services department on precautions to be taken during a fire mishap were very interesting, he said. The presentations by the Women and Child Welfare Department about consumption of nutrient food for women had been observed by a large number of women. Free medicines were distributed by Health Department. A The presentations held by Agriculture Department for creating awareness on farming methods and animal rearing have attracted large number of people. New fire station at Marripadu Later, speaking at the festival, Nellore district fire officer Srinivasulu informed that a new fire station would be set up at Marripadu in the district. At present there are 12 fire stations and 13 vehicles in the district, he said. He asked the people to cooperate in controlling the fire mishaps and construct buildings according to the government regulations.
49 sub stations to be set up
At the same festival, Electrical sub engineer P Srinivasulu also informed that 49 new sub stations with a budget of Rs 60 crore would be set up in the district to provide electricity properly. Presently, there are 435 sub stations in the district. To overcome the low voltage problem, the new sub stations were being set up, he said. High voltage power would be supplied to the farmers directly to the fields, he said.
