RTI child heroes want to be doctors
Wonder kids Manoj and Mamatha, who set example for others by utilising RTI Act at a very young age, dream to become doctors one day. Moved by the poor condition of health services in villages, they vowed to become doctors and serve the rural population in future.

Hyderabad/Nizamabad: Wonder kids Manoj and Mamatha, who set example for others by utilising RTI Act at a very young age, dream to become doctors one day. Moved by the poor condition of health services in villages, they vowed to become doctors and serve the rural population in future.
Both Manoj and Mamatha were felicitated at a national seminar on RTI implementation held at Women’s Degree College in Nizamabad on Friday. District Collector Ronald Rose and former MP Narayan Reddy presented them with mementos and a cash prize of Rs 1,000 each.

The third girl Kavitha could not attend as she was sick. Wadi government school teacher Naresh who taught them about RTI Act and helped them in filing of RTI appeals was also present on the occasion. Speaking to The Hans India, 7th standard Mamatha stated that she was doing her bit to pass on the RTI knowledge she garnered to her friends and relatives so that they could make use of it. Her father went to Gulf in search of better livelihood.
Mamatha’s dream is to become doctor in the future and serve people in villages in view of poor medical facilities. She filed an RTI seeking information of tiger population in the State, district-wise breakup and steps being taken by the government to protect the endangered species. Meanwhile, fifth standard student Manoj too wished to become a doctor to serve the poor in villages.
He hails from Wadi village of Velpur mandal. His father left for Gulf in search of a good job. Manoj utilised RTI Act on two occasions - once for getting scholarship fee that was not disbursed in time and the second time to obtain the forgotten history of Nizamabad district.
Collector and Ex-MP hail the kids Collector Ronald Rose hailed the achievements of the children as extraordinary. When not many people were fully aware of the formalities involved in RTI appeals, these children not only filed RTI but ensured desired things got done through it, he felt. Former MP Narayan Reddy opined that works of the school kids were truly inspirational. Since Nizamabad was set to host a two-day RTI seminar from Friday, a decision was taken to felicitate them on this occasion, he said.
