Manikonda: Polling for the Panchayat elections in Manikonda village began at 7 am on Saturday. People in large numbers have been queuing up to cast their votes since morning. A few people said that their names were not found on the electoral list.
Three people are contesting for the post of Sarpanch in this election. A total of 63 persons are contesting elections from Manikonda for existing 14 wards in the Panchayat. It is worth mentioning here that already 35 Panchayats have been recently merged in the GHMC, except Manikonda Panchayat. It has now become inevitable to conduct polls for this Panchayat. The polling will go up to 1pm on Saturday, sources added.
