Rajahmundry: All arrangements have been made for the historical 'Dalit Shankharavam' to be held at Government Arts College here on Sunday. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha would be felicitated for being instrumental in bringing the legislation on SC/ST Sub-Plan Act. A galaxy of ministers and people's representatives would attend the meeting. Colourful flexis have been placed on the main roads and junctions in Rajahmundry welcoming the guests.

The Chief Minister would arrive at Madhurapudi Airport at 5.15 pm by helicopter from Gannavaram Airport and interact with the officials and non-officials. He would inaugurate post-Matric hostels for ST boys and girls near Government Arts College.

He would reach the venue at 5.50 pm and leave for R&B Guest House at 8.40 pm for night halt. The Chief Minister would reach the residence of Amalapuram MP GV Harsha Kumar for breakfast at 9.30 am on April 22. Later, he would leave for Hyderabad at 10.45 am from Madhurapudi Airport.

After inspecting the arrangements at the Government Arts College, Mr Harsha Kumar said this was a historical moment for Dalits in the State. He lauded the efforts of the Chief Minister for bringing a historical legislation for the first time in the country. He opined that other States would follow suit and bring a legislation on SC/ST Sub-Plan funds.

He urged the Centre to implement the Act at the national-level. He reiterated that the Bill on reservations for SCs in jobs should be passed in Parliament. He found fault with the political parties for using Dalits as vote bank, He made it clear that Dalits should be given due share in political power. He called upon Dalits to make the 'Dalit Shankharavam' a great success.

Minister for Stamps and Registrations, East Godavari District Collector, Eluru range DIG Suryaprakasa Rao, Rajahmundry police urban district SP T Ravi Kumar Murthy and Rajahmundry City MLA Routhu Suryaprakasa Rao also monitored the arrangements at the venue on Saturday.
