Police seize wax models of Srikurmam deity

Srikakulam: The wax model of the presiding deity of Srikurmanadha temple here was handed over to the police on Friday, eight days after it was unauthorisedly taken. According to police, two idol-makers from Hyderabad � Dandapani and Naresh �took the imprint at the instance of jewellery merchant Ranga Rao. Senior priest at the temple, Murali Krishnamacharyulu, helped them. However, the news spread like a wildfire and protests were held in the town. The police booked a case and launched an investigation. Local people, however, suspect that since the wax model was with the culprits for more than a week, they could have made copies of it. They demanded that a thorough inquiry be conducted to book the culprits. They felt that the police should book jewellary merchant Ranga Rao under various sections of IPC.
