Hyderabad: The PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday made it clear that it would not suo moto take up the case relating to the possible demolition of constructions in Gurukul Ghatkesar Trust lands. P V Krishnaiah, a practising advocate of the High Court, urged the Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta to take up the case as suo moto as the authorities were demolishing the structures without there being notice to property owners and several persons would be rendered shelter less.

It is reported that GHMC started demolishing the structures. The Chief Minister of Telangana during the poll campaign had promised to reclaim lands belonging to Bhoodan Board, Gurukul Trust and Wakf Board in Telangana. In 2012 a division bench of the AP High Court gave its nod to regularise the Gurukul Trust lands in favour of the private individuals who were in possession of them. The court directed that all the proceeds collected by the government in the name of regularisation should be given to the trust and the initial charitable activities for which the trust was formed should be taken up again.
