Sangareddy (Medak): The State government is not showing commitment to implementing the election promises even two months after its formation, alleged Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy here on Tuesday.
Addressing the State BJP executive, after getting re-elected as president, Reddy claimed that the engineering students and backward classes were being ‘terrorised’ by the government decisions. Poor shelter-less people were the most affected by scrapping of the pending welfare schemes, including pensions. He claimed that the government failed to secure Central funds because of its ‘inefficiency’ and not sending proposals. The BJP leader accused the pink party of trying to spread ‘poisonous’ talk that the Centre was partial to the State, thus breeding dislike among the people.
Finding fault with the fee reimbursement policy, Kishan Reddy pointed out that more Telangana students would be losers by the 1956 cut-off year for deciding local status. He wanted the government to abide by the Supreme Court ruling on EAMCET counselling.
Reddy charged the government with trying to cut white ration cards in the name of weeding out bogus cards. He warned that the party would not be silent if injustice was done to the poor.
The BJP leader flayed the government for lacking foresight on the power situation, thereby causing severe shortage. He accused the police of trying to suppress farmers’ agitation by lathi-charging when they merely demanded power supply on time.
He alleged that the government was no better than the Congress in vote-bank politics, trying to woo minorities/Christians by offering 12 and three per cent reservations respectively. He said the party was opposed to religion-based reservations and would oppose such quota. The meeting resolved to strengthen the party in Telangana and to take the Modi government performance to the people.
