Hyderabad: With Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu giving greater importance to Reddy community and BCs in Telangana unit of the party, TTDP appears to be heading for a split.

Unhappy over the changing caste equations, the party senior leader E Dayakar Rao is said to be negotiating with Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and may join the pink party. Rao is said to be unhappy with the Naidu for promoting the young leader, A Revanth Reddy, as the politburo member and over the manner in which Revanth Reddy has been attacking KCR on the issue of Metro Rail.

In fact, party sources maintain that Rao has been soft towards KCR even when the TRS was lashing out at TDP and did nothing to counter the moves to weaken the party. They said Dayakar Rao has been under fire from party leadership for having failed to take on KCR. It is said that Naidu had even asked Rao not to meet KCR.

Meanwhile, TDP had been attacking TRS for having favoured a realtor J Rameswar Rao and allocating the land earmarked for Metro project to the realtor. It is learnt that Dayakar Rao, who also belongs to the same community as that of Rameswar Rao, was unable to digest it. Rao has also been keeping away from active participation in party activities in Telangana.

Against the backdrop of this situation, a fleet of cars went to the camp office of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao around midnight on Monday. This fuelled speculations that Dayakar Rao along with TTDP working president L Ramana had met KCR and discussed about the recent developments for about two hours.

Sources said these two leaders had gone to KCR’s house without taking their gunmen with them.

It was also said that Ramana was in a fix as he was unable to make up his mind to quit the party or not. Ramana, being a BC, was given prominence in TDP but he is a close friend of Dayakar Rao. Hence the dilemma, party leaders said.

However, on Monday afternoon, Dayakar Rao denied that he was quitting the party. He told The Hans India that it was his brother E Pradeep Rao who had called on KCR to discuss some personal issues.
