K. Chandrashekar Rao also known as KCR had taken over the reins of Telangana when his party won 63 out of 119 seats in the 2014 Assembly Elections. KCR has been outspoken about his plans for the development of Telangana on various public platforms. The most important point that he has raised is the need of proper planning in tailoring unique solutions for the Telangana state. “Good planning is half success” are the words he has used to describe the need for meticulous planning.

He has said that enough time must be taken to understand the problems faced by various regions in Telangana especially in sectors like agriculture, irrigation and power supply. KCR has put the ball rolling by indulging in charting out both short and long term goals and also focusing on the need of policy reforms in the area of industries and real estate. In July 2014, KCR addressed all the district officers of the state in an event named as ‘Re-Inventing Telangana’. He spoke about participatory planning by including the grassroots in developing village specific development plan in the irrigation and fisheries sector.
KCR has emphasized on taking a bottom-up approach to empower panchayats by bringing in increased investment for each village. He has mentioned the need for critical review of national schemes which can be implemented for Telangana in sectors like urban development, education, housing, etc. He has also promised to make Hyderabad a world class destination by the implementation of technology to making it a safer, smarter and greener city. The areas of improvement which are being closing monitored are sanitation, traffic, public education to help improve the living standards of people living in the capital city.
KCR has also promised single window clearance system and hopes to make it the best in the country. He has personally been involved in initiating a special caste development program to decrease the poverty levels among the Dalit community. He also emphasized the need to rejuvenate the forest department and has set aside a special fund for forest development. KCR has also promised to bring in investment from different countries in the automobiles, pharmaceuticals, IT and food processing industries.
He has assured the people that his government will not blindly scrap the present schemes and plans but look to modify them to the needs of the new state. In a short span of time KCR has handpicked bureaucrats and officials from around the country to take on development specific responsibilities. In the future, KCR has huge hurdles in the form of power and water scarcity which will can only solved with proper planning and consideration. There are huge expectations resting on KCR’s shoulders given that he has promised zero corruption, high level of industrial development and special focus to the needs of the farmers of the state.
