Naini calls Naidu Telangana Drohi

Holds him responsible for suicides by Telangana youth during the agitation for statehood

Hyderabad: Unleashing a fresh attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy has accused the former of creating hurdles in the development of Telangana State. Addressing a gathering at Telangana Martyrs' Memorial at Gun Park here on Tuesday, Naini alleged that Chandrababu Naidu had been playing a villainous role with regard to Telangana.

Following the fast-unto-death undertaken by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekar Rao, the Centre had agreed to grant statehood for Telangana. However, it was Chandrababu Naidu’s U-turn that delayed the entire process for four years. He blamed the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief for over hundreds of suicides by students and youth for the statehood during those four years.

Naini alleged that Chandrababu Naidu had been creating hurdles in the development of Telangana. The AP Chief Minister tried to stop energy and water for Telangana and had been creating one or the other hurdle for the Telangana government. Describing him as ‘Telangana Drohi’, Naini advised Naidu to mend his ways to prevent complete extinction of Telugu TDP from the new State.

Earlier, the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial was washed with milk to mark the fifth anniversary of announcement of Telangana State by the Central government. TRS senior leaders and other activists paid rich tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the formation of Telangana State. (INN)
