Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao has urged the Centre to provide required assistance for several projects in Telangana State. During his visit to the national capital on Sunday, KTR called on Union ministers Santosh Gangwar (Textiles), Ch Birendra Singh (Rural Development), YS Chowdhary (Science & Technology) and Bandaru Dattatreya (Labour) and sought their assistance.

New Delhi: Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao has urged the Centre to provide required assistance for several projects in Telangana State. During his visit to the national capital on Sunday, KTR called on Union ministers Santosh Gangwar (Textiles), Ch Birendra Singh (Rural Development), YS Chowdhary (Science & Technology) and Bandaru Dattatreya (Labour) and sought their assistance.

Speaking to mediapersons later, KTR said that he had sought their help in early execution of Telangana projects. Construction of mega powerlooms and handloom clusters in Telangana was discussed with the Central ministers, he said. KTR said he had also requested Santosh Gangwar to set up a Textile Park in Warangal district.

He also sought clearances for Textile Incubation Centres in the State. He said he had briefed Birendra Singh about the Telangana Water Grid project and urged that the Central government to bear half of the cost of the project. He complained to the minister of delay in the release of funds meant for the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

KTR appealed to Dattatreya to increase the ESI hospital bed capacity from 50 to 200 in Sircilla of Karimnagar district and an ITI centre in Sircilla under Central government’s grant and management The minister has also sought financial assistance for the safe and piped drinking water scheme to every household from the National Rural Drinking Water programme.

He requested the Centre to increase the its contribution towards the pension payments not under 58:42 ratio but based on the backwardness of Telangana and Suresh Tendulkar committee’s recommendations. KTR said he was hopeful that many of the projects would get cleared in the coming Budget Session. He invited Birender Singh and Santosh Gangwar to visit Telangana.
