Govt to provide water for 1 lakh acres in Sircilla: KTR
Sircilla (Karimnagar): Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao stressed on the need for protecting the tanks as they are lifeline for villages. Harish Rao participated in a public meeting at Maddikunta in Mustabad mandal along with the Panchayat Raj and IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, Taraka Rama Rao lavished praises on Harish Rao for visiting Sircilla Assembly constituency to review the progress of irrigation projects. He said that the Narmala irrigation project, constructed 60 years ago, is the only water source for agricultural needs of Sircilla Assembly segment. He stated that the State government was preparing plans to speed up completion of pending works with an aim of providing water to one lakh acres in Sircilla Assembly constituency.
Taraka Rama Rao faulted the Congress leaders for making statements that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao should be kept behind bars. He asked the gathering as to whether the Chief Minister has to be in jail for taking up developmental works for people’s welfare. He pointed out that plans were afoot to supply irrigation water for 16,500 acres in Mustabad mandal.
Later, Harish Rao said that the TRS leaders met successive Chief Ministers in the united AP requesting for completion of the Narmala project. “No Chief Minister took interest in Narmala project,” he added. He stated that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had launched the ‘Mission Kakatiya’ project to irrigate 23 lakh acres in the state by restoring tanks. “Efforts are on to remove silt from tanks for improving water storage capacities so that more acres can be brought under cultivation,” the Minister said.
Harish Rao informed people that the Chief Minister believed that the state would turn into ‘Bangaru Telangana’ if water was provided to one lakh acres in each Assembly constituency for irrigation purpose. He said that the TRS government would ensure 3 TMC ft water is stored in the Mid Manair dam from next year by completing pending construction works.
