Hyderabad: A two judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday directed the governments of Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh to take a decision on levying tax on contract carriages and tourist vehicles plying between the States. The bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sengupta and Justice P V Sanjay Kumar was dealing with a batch of petitions filed by various transport operators in the two states.

They informed the court that the Governor had issued orders that if tax was paid in one of the states, it was deemed that tax was paid in second State also and no further demand would be made till March 31 of 2015. They complained that both the governments had failed to inform them about the issue of payment of tax after March 31. The bench left it for the governments to take a decision and dismissed the petitions.
