Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a nine-year-old boy, Joshua, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a car near his uncle’s house at Devi Nagar in Kukatpally area, police said on Sunday. The police said that the cause of death was not known immediately. They suspect that the boy, a Class III student, might have died of suffocation after getting locked himself in the parked Hyundai i10 car, which had a heavy body cover on it.
The case is under investigation, inspector K Purushottam said, adding that Joshua went missing since Saturday. The family realised the absence of the child only on Saturday evening. Later, Vijay Babu, father of the victim, lodged a missing complaint with the police. It was only when the family wanted to return to their house opened the car door and found the boy dead inside the car and alerted the police. The police swung into action and took stock of the situation.
Preliminary investigations suggested that the boy died of suffocation as outsiders could not able to see him screaming because of the body cover put on the car, but foul play cannot be ruled out. “It is hard to jump to any conclusion at this point. The police are still collecting details,” the inspector said.A pall of gloom descended on the family after the boy’s death. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to Gandhi Hospital. A case has been registered under Section 174 of the IPC. Investigation is on.
