Khammam: The Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao announced that the government will purchase the wet grains to help farmers who are in distress due to heavy rains which damaged the fields as well as produce in the last fortnight.

The Minister on a visit to the district, in Chennaram village of Nelakondapalli mandal, inaugurated the Agricultural Society Building which was constructed under Krishi Vikas Yojana of State with a cost Rs 7.20 lakhs, on Wednesday.


The Minister also laid foundation stone for 11.18 kilometres road which would be constructed between Rajeshwarapuram to Painampally in Nelakondapally mandal with Rs 2.22 crores budget, by which the people of Ammagudem, Mandrajupalli, Surdapalli, Ramachadrapuram and Painampally would be largely benefitted.

Addressing a gathering, the Minister said, “The farmers of the district had suffered severe losses due to heavy rains. All the major crops such as paddy, chilies and maize which were in harvesting and standing stage along with the mango plantations were damaged due to the heavy rains that lashed a week ago. To help those farmers the government has resolved to purchase the wet grains” he assured.


He also said. “The government allotted Rs 17500 crores for loan waiving of farmers who got loan below one lakh rupees. In the first phase Rs 4510 crores were used last year. In the second phase the government is going to release Rs 4700 crores under to waive of loans. Eligible farmers can approach me, if they couldn’t avail loan waiver including the sugar cane farmers, ”he assured.


He also said that Rs 25,000 crores would be allotted for building panchayat roads and another Rs 25,000 crores for R&B roads will be disbursed. Already, Rs 10,000 crores were allotted this year for the purpose and another Rs 5,000 crores would be released very soon, he added. Zilla Parishad Chairperson G Kavitha, RDO Vijay Krishna Reddy, Assistant Divisional Officer Jumki Lal, ICDS PD Sukh Jeevan Babu, ZPTC Anitha, MPP Kavitha Rani and others were present.
