The District Collector along with Additional Superintendent of Police Ganga Ram held a meeting with the Municipal Commissioners in Collectorate meeting hall. Speaking at the meeting, Satyanarayana Reddy said that complying to the orders given by the Supreme Court and High Court, the state government has issued GO No. 18 in 2013, prohibiting granting of permission for installation of any statue or construction of any structure on public roads, pavements and other public utility places.


He said that they identified one statue at Huzurnagar and six statues in Kodad which have come up without necessary permission and directed the municipal commissioners concerned to remove them immediately. He said that police, revenue and municipal officials should work in coordination and remove the statues without causing any trouble and urged officials not to hurt the sentiments of the people, while removing the statues by explaining and convincing them, the reasons behind their action.


The District Collector also directed officials to follow the new guidelines, while granting permissions for installation of new statues. He also instructed the officials to distribute Telugu translated copy of High Court order to sarpanches of the villages through District Panchayat Officer (DPO) and create awareness among the public on the hindrances caused by unauthorised statues.
