Commercial Tax Minister Talasani Srinivas YadavHyderabad: The five-day “Swachh Hyderabad” programme would make the metropolitan city free of garbage, trash and stench, besides, addressing the burning issues of the people. Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat here on Tuesday, Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said Rs 20 crore was released to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to launch the programme from May 16 to 20 by involving 33,500 employees.

Governor ESL Narsimhan will launch the programme which will be attended by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, ministers, MPs, legislators and local leaders of the party, he said. The Chief Minister is keen on remodeling slums in the city into beautiful colonies by providing the dwellers with permanent shelter, he said. Steps are being taken in this direction, he added.


Exhorting party leaders and institutions to involve themselves in the pious programme to make Hyderabad Clean and tidy, the minister said the officials were asked to set up teams with local people to make the event a grand success. The State government has sanctioned Rs 50 lakh each to 400 teams to be pressed into the service to take up the “Swachh Hyderabad” a clean city drive.


The drive will help solve problems relating to ration cards, pensions, housing facility, drainage, storm water, roads and other issues. He also said the people can make a call to the toll-free phone number 040-2111 11 11 for addressing their issues.
