TRS student wing calls for OU bandh

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi Vidyardhi Vibhagam, affiliated to TRS, on Friday gave a call for shutdown of Osmania University in protest against attack on the principal of University College of Sciences. A group of students assaulted the principal Prof A Narasing Rao for refusing to give admission to them in hostel.

According to the teachers, it was a pre-planned attack by the students. The agitators ransacked the furniture and computers in the administrative office. The students were exerting pressure on the officials for securing admission in the hostel. But the officials refused to bow to the pressure because the group of students were not eligible for hostel accommodation, according to Prof Narasing Rao.

The teachers in the college said the violence perpetrated by the students was captured by the CCTV camera. The Osmania University Teachers’ Association strongly condemned the incident. They demanded that the university and police arrest the culprits.
