Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday said his government would offer equal respect to all religions and people. Like all the religions are getting their due, the Christmas would also be celebrated as State festival on a grand scale, he declared. He also directed the officials to conduct Christmas as State festival on the lines of Bathukamma, Bonalu and Ramzan.
At a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat here, KCR said the Christmas should be celebrated officially across the State. Celebrations would be conducted in 100 churches in twin cities and in 95 Assembly constituencies. On the occasion of the festival, the officials would distribute clothes to two lakh poor Christians – both men
and women. The Chief Minister also directed the officials to organise a grand party on behalf of the government on December 20. He asked officials to prepare an action plan for the purpose and said that senior IAS officer Raymond Peter and Minority Welfare Committee Chairman A K Khan would conduct a coordination meeting in this regard. KCR also directed the officials to chalk out a plan for setting up of 60 Gurukul Schools for Muslim Minorities from next Academic year.
