Party official spokespersons write to the CEC, urging it to initiate action against CM, IT Minister
Hyderabad: Firing a fresh salvo at the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his Cabinet colleges were violating the election code of conduct and requested the Chief Election Commissioner of India to take necessary action against them.
TPCC official spokespersons B Kamalakar Rao and G Niranjan wrote a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner Syed Nasim Ahmad Zaidi in this regard. In the letter, they alleged that the Chief Minister and the Ministers had resorted to violations during the by-election to Warangal (SC) Parliament constituency last month and were continuing the same during the present biennial elections to the Legislative Council from local body authorities.
It seemed that this trend would be continued in the elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) expected to be held in the month of January, 2016, they alleged and said that the Chief Minister and Ministers were taking policy decisions and leaking it to the press to influence the voters, and if any complaint was made against them, they were trying to escape by saying orders were not issued.
The TPCC official spokespersons mentioned the instances of code violation during Warangal by-elections in the letter — appointment of Vice-Chancellor to Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health and Sciences, Warangal, appointment was published in the press, the Vice-Chancellor Dr Karunakar Reddy met the Chief Minister and thanked him. But when it was questioned by the ECI, they replied that orders were not issued, they said.
The Chief Minister himself declared in Warangal election meeting that Kalyana Laxmi scheme would be extended to BC communities which were presently applicable to SC and ST communities. State government announced free distribution of clothes during the Christmas Day celebrations and also arrangement of a mass Christmas dinner on the day, they said in the letter.
According to the leaders, following are the violations of the Chief Minister and his son and IT Minister KT Rama Rao, after the issue of schedule for biennial elections to the Legislative Council from local bodies: The Chief Minister addressed a meeting organised to admit the Congress leaders including ZPTCs/MPTCs from Khammam district into the TRS on November 28 at his camp office and announced that the district would be developed on par with Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Khammam district will reap the benefits from the unification of Rajiv Sagar and Indira Sagar projects, he said. Rama Rao admitted other party leaders including ZPTCs/MPTCs into their party by placing their party khanduvas in his chambers in Secretariat, they pointed out.
