Hyderabad: The State government is determined to maintain law and order in twin cities, Information Technology and Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao said here on Saturday.

Inaugurating 77 Community CCTV cameras under Chandanagar Police station limits, KTR said the cameras would help carry out surveillance on anti-social elements and thus provide protection to citizens. As part of the plan to make Hyderabad a global city, the government was providing to the police the latest technologies and gadgets.

As many as 10,000 CCTV cameras would be installed in the city, he said. The Metro Rail service would be extended to the outskirts to facilitate high-speed transport to people, he said and added that Google CEO Sundar Pichai had announced that the company set up its big center in the city, KTR said.

He accused the previous governments of not focusing their attention on the development of Hyderabad. Those who predicted all-round gloom in the State, if a statehood was granted to Telangana, were proved wrong, he pointed out.

The government, he said, was pushing ahead with the mission to make Hyderabad global city. Infrastructure would be improved. It was essential to keep peace for realising the goal. Therefore, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao pushing ahead to develop the city and ensure that drinking water is made available to every household, he said.
