Hyderabad: Opposition parties in the GHMC poll fray are deprived of advertising hoardings by various agencies for the election campaign. With TRS already putting up more than 1,000 hoardings throughout the GHMC limits, the Congress and BJP-TDP are facing denial from advertising agencies allegedly under threat from the ruling party.

By November end, the ruling TRS engaged most of the hoardings at prime sites for campaigning. And by the beginning of December, the hoardings flashed various schemes taken up by the government.

However, by the time other political parties realised the aggressive political campaign kick started by the TRS, most of the advertisement agencies under GHMC limits had already struck a deal with the ruling party.

Later, even though Congress and BJP-TDP had approached the management of the advertisement agency, they were denied. The Congress, which had more than 50 corporators during the previous term and stood as single largest party last GHMC elections, has failed get even a single hoarding as part for its election campaigning.

The party leaders have directly blamed the ruling TRS for allegedly coercing with the advertisement agencies for depriving the Congress of its right. “The field has now become uneven for contesting parties.

On one hand, KTR is resorting to propaganda by engaging most of the hoardings in the city, while on the other he deprived other parties by directing the management of advertising agencies not to provide space. When we approached, they appeared under threat,” alleged TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Similar was the reaction from BJP floor leader Dr K Laxman. He said his partymen who tried to strike a deal with advertising agency faced a situation akin to Congress. “When our MLA NVSS Prabhakar approached the ad agencies, he faced similar experience.

Even those with free space could not cater to our needs and took excuse by informing that they were already booked,” said Laxman. There are about 2,500 hoardings under the area of GHMC jurisdiction.

The TRS party which began with about 800 hoardings is believed to double the number before going for polls. While it occupies most of the hoardings, its ally MIM is leaving no stone unturned in its area of influence.

It has put up not only hoardings in seven assembly constituencies, but also huge bill boards at high rise buildings.
