Hyderabad: CPI (M) State Secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram has lambasted the two the Telugu State governments for serving the interests of global corporate. The two governments are following in the footsteps of the Union government, he has said.

Speaking at “meet-the-media” programme here on Monday, Veerabhadram alleged that the Centre and the State governments had scaled down the development activities. “These governments were concentrating only on construction of flyovers, road extensions and wooing leaders of other political parties to join them for perpetrating corrupt activities.”

He demanded that the government dismiss Hyderabad Central University Vice-Chancellor holding him responsible for the suicide of PhD scholar Rohit and a case under SC, ST Atrocities Act be registered against him. He also demanded that Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattratraya be dropped from the Cabinet for his “complicity in the episode.”

Veerabhadram said the TRS was continuing the legacy of previous united Andhra Pradesh government in the Telangana State and encouraging caste-based politics. Both the TDP and BJP were playing communal politics for political gains in the ensuing GHMC elections, he added. The CPI (M) leader said his party was committed to adhere to political values.

He also accused the TRS government of floating double bedroom houses scheme with the sole intention of getting votes of weaker sections in the ensuing elections in Greater Hyderabad. “The KCR government doesn’t know how to develop Hyderabad city into global hub. The Left parties would fight against the corporate interests in the democracy and create awareness among the people to fight for their rights.

He also said the alliance would contest 90 divisions in the GHMC elections out of which his party would field candidates in 28 divisions, CPI 16, Lok Satta 35, MCPI 5. The CPI(M) would also extend support to six independent candidates, he added.

CPI (M) party secretary M Srinivas said the One Hyderabad Alliance would ensure clean politics in Hyderabad, fight against communal parties’ and develop Hyderabad. TWJF State general secretary B Basava Punnaiah, HUJ president V Chandra Shakar, Padma Raj Somaiah and others were present.
