Wanted to sincerely help Amaravati development with funds

Hyderabad: Telangana Government wants to have a cordial relationship with neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and in fact it wanted to extend financial help for construction of Amaravati but had to withhold its decision as it did not want to give an impression that it was more generous than the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing a press conference related to GHMC electons on Thursday, KCR said that he had gone to Amravati with an intention of announcing some financial help for the new capital city. But he could not make the announcement as the Prime Minister handed over a pot containing some water and mud to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. KCR said he had expected that Modi during his speech would announce financial aid or package for Amaravati but that did not happen and hence he too kept quiet.

He said he had told Naidu about his intention and why he could not announce and Naidu could do nothing but to smile. How could a man who has got no funds for Amravati succeed in influencing Centre to get funds for development of the city if people vote for his party in the GHMC elections, he said.

KCR said as Chief Minister Naidu has many problems to handle. He should focus on developing his own state which has a huge coastal belt from Hindupuram to Itchapuram and capital city of Amaravathi. Naidu has got a lot of work at Vijayawada, Vizag and many other places. Taking up campaign here is meaningless it will not fetch him any votes he said.

Asked if Naidu was his friend of foe, KCR said that as people holding constitutional positions they were friends and both states need to cooperate with each other. Political rivalry is different and both should not be mixed, he said.
