Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s meeting with the Governor ESL Narsimhan on Saturday fuelled speculation that he was contemplating a reshuffle of his cabinet before June 2 when he would be completing two years in office.According to a senior party leader, KCR always consults the Governor on important issues before taking a final decision. Hence the meeting he had with Narasimhan on Saturday assumes importance. There is every possibility that he would have informed the Governor of his plans to reshuffle the cabinet.

Party sources say that this time the Chief Minister is likely to drop some ministers and induct important leaders, including some who had migrated from TDP. The Chief Minister, the sources said, was reviewing the performance of the ministers. Sources said that Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Chief Whip Koppula Eswar and one woman MLA’s name were doing the rounds in the party circles as the likely new faces in the cabinet.

The possibility of dropping Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, BC Welfare, Forest and Environment Minister Jogu Ramanna and Excise and Prohibition Minister T Padma Rao is also not ruled out. KCR is planning to utilise the services of the three ministers for party work.

Rumours are also doing rounds that KCR would fill all nominated posts only after restructuring his cabinet. No major cabinet reshuffle had taken place since the formation of the TRS government in June 2014.

KCR had gone in for some minor changes like replacing the then Deputy Chief Minister Rajaiah with Kadiam Srihari and a minor change in the portfolios of Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy and Health Minister C Laxma Reddy last year. Since the total intake of ministers in Telangana state cabinet cannot be more than 18, including the Chief Minister, sources said the only option left before KCR is to drop some to accommodate others.
