Addressing a review meeting with various officials at the Collectorate in the town on Friday, she said that the statues of national leaders and martyrs should be washed and decorated.

Nizamabad: District Collector Dr Yogita Rana said that the Telangana State formation day should be celebrated with great fanfare in a festive atmosphere from the village level to the district level on June 2. Addressing a review meeting with various officials at the Collectorate in the town on Friday, she said that the statues of national leaders and martyrs should be washed and decorated.

The District Collector directed the officials to organise rallies at the village, Mandal and district levels and also unveil the national flag on government offices, public sector units and Agency organizations.

She said that the Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation Pocharam Srinivas Reddy who would be participating in the event as the chief guest would pay homage to the martyrs at the Martyrs Stupa at 8 AM on the 2nd of June and would take a guard of honour at the Police Parade Grounds in the town and hoist the national flag between 8.30 to 10.30 AM.

Collector Rana said that the family members of the Telangana martyrs and eminent personalities from various walks of life would be felicitated on the occasion. Later, sweets would be distributed in old age homes, the school for the blind hospitals and orphanages, she added. She said that blood donation camps would also be organised.

The District Collector said that a Telangana food stall would be set up to display the Telangana recipes. In the evening, a huge rally would be taken out by the Telangana State government employees associations and non-government organisations followed by a cultural programme. Telugu poetry reciting sessions, qawwalis and mushairas would be organised.

She said the seminars , essay writing and elocution competitions on Telangana statehood movement and history would be organised in engineering and medical colleges and nursing training centres. Yogita Rana also told the officials of the district education department to conduct competitions for the school students who take part in the mid-day meals programme.

She directed the MPDOs to organise photo exhibitions at the Mandal level on the various social welfare and development programmes undertaken by the government. She said that all the shopping malls, cinema halls and hotels should be decorated beautifully from May 30 onwards and prizes would be given away to the most beautifully decorated shops, she added.

She said that all the main roads and highways should be decorated with street lights from June 1 to 3. The District Collector said that special prayers would be conducted in temples, churches and mosques and other places of a religious workshop to mark the occasion. She said that floral tributes would be paid to 48 martyrs who gave up their lives to the cause of Telangana Statehood.

District Joint Collector A Ravinder Reddy, Additional Superintendent of Police Pratap Reddy, Aditional Joint Collector Rajaram, DRDA project directors and others were present.
