Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Monday directed District Collectors to speed up land acquisition for the proposed irrigation projects and ensure the completion of works in a time-bound manner. The Minister held a meeting with Medak, Nalgonda, Warangal and Khammam District Collectors and irrigation officials on the progress in Mission Kakatiya and land acquisition.

He was informed about the hurdles being faced by the irrigation department in land acquirement for Devadula, Dindi, Udayasamudram and SLBC (Srisailam Left Bank Canal). The officials also informed the Minister about the railway level crossing problems at Komarambheem, Mattadivagu, Yellampalli, Nettempadu, Koilsagar, Sitaramsagar and Udaysamudram projects. He asked the officials to organise a meeting with railways officials ever month until the crossing problems are addressed.

Instructing officials to complete tender process for the third phase of Mission Kakatiya scheme by December and start works in January, Harish Rao directed the officials to ensure transparency and added that all the tenders would be finalised online.

He said that NABARD gave its nod to release Rs 800 crore for Mission Kakatiya this year. The proposal to allot works up to Rs 5 lakh in the villages under the scheme on nomination basis is under active consideration. A decision would be taken after getting the State cabinet’s approval.
