TRS nominees to file RS papers today
Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises on Monday, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender and Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that both the TRS candidates are set to get elected unanimously.
Hyderabad: TRS leaders Dharmapuri Srinivas and Capt. Lakshmikantha Rao - will file their nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections on Tuesday.
Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises on Monday, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender and Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that both the TRS candidates are set to get elected unanimously.
Eatala welcomed the decision of Congress party for not contesting the Rajya Sabha elections. He said Rajya Sabha elections were being held in Telangana State for the first time and they would result in increasing the TRS strength in the Upper House of Parliament.
He informed that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and MIM leaders would be present on the occasion of filing of nomination papers by Lakshmikantha Rao and D Srinivas.
Nayani said that the election of Srinivas to Rajya Sabha would help the Telangana State in getting more funds from the Centre as he was highly experienced and has very good contacts at the Centre.
Meanwhile, Eatala Rajender and Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy visited Darulsalaam, the MIM headquarters, on Monday. The Ministers were accorded warm reception by MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and other party leaders.
Eatala and Nayani formally requested the MIM chief to support the candidature of Dharmapuri Srinivas and Capt. Lakshmikantha Rao, the TRS candidates, in the Rajya Sabha elections. Accepting their request, Asaduddin Owaisi assured his party’s support to the TRS and also promised that MIM leaders would be present at the time of filing of nomination papers.
