Hyderabad: The innovative method of teaching children with the ‘Mobile Resource Van’ (MRV) has become a favourite for the school going children in the rural areas. The MRV exclusively provides multiple kinds of educational facilities at a single point.
The project of MRV, offered by the international nonprofit organisation Save the Children in collaboration with Mahita became the prime source for the children in the rural areas to acquire practical knowledge.
The vehicle is currently offering the service in ten villages of Ranga Reddy, which includes Tattiannaram, Quthubullapur, Pasumamula, Abdullapurmet and Injapur. The all in one vehicle provides multiple facilities like library, digital projector class and also displays self-explanatory science models.
Mahita resource van coordinator Giri Prasad said that the vehicle is assisting the primary students by providing digital classes and offering practical education which is unavailable in government schools. “This program is being conducted as a part of the pilot study to make the government introduce the digital classes at the elementary level in government schools,” he said.
Giri further said that as per the annual assessment the overall educational development is of 40 per cent among the students who got benefit through this program. “MRVs also helped increase the enrollment in government schools of these ten villages,” he said.
The coordinator Radha Krishna said the programme had similarly contributed to decreasing child labour in these villages by creating interest in education among children. “Children labour has decreased in several businesses after introduction of mobile van facility,” he said. The study would be submitted to the government for introducing more innovative teaching methods in a government schools, he added.
