Pocharam said that 73.61 quintals of soya bean were disbursed

Nizamabad: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy on Tuesday inaugurated the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society building at Nizamsagar.

Speaking on the occasion, he said seeds were being supplied to farmers on subsidy through the cooperative society. The government was spending between Rs 400 and Rs 500 crore.

The PACs were saddled with many responsibilities like lending money to farmers, supplying seeds to them, lifting crops from them and disbursing cash for the crops purchased and so on.

He said that 73.61 quintals of soya bean seeds out of 90 quintals received had been disbursed.

He advised farmers to reduce the application of chemical fertilisers and increase organic manure proportion. Drip irrigation equipment was being supplied to SC and ST farmers on 100 per cent subsidy, to small and marginal farmers on 90 per cent subsidy and to others on 80 per cent subsidy.

The Minister said the State government was disbursing Rs 400 crore towards welfare pensions to the poor. The State government spent Rs 510 crore last year under the Kalyana Lakshmi, he added.

He declared that the government would spend Rs 2,000 crore this year on marriages of girls hailing from the poorest of the poor families.

Earlier, the Minister inaugurated a village panchayat office building at Aredu in Nizamsagar mandal. Zilla Parishad Chairman Dafedar Raju, DCCB Chairman Gangadhar Rao Patwari, Zukkal legislator Hanmanth Shinde and others took part in the programme.
