Warangal: The City Congress leaders have been making serious efforts to boost the morale of the party workers and to streamline the functioning of the party.

In this connection, they organised extended executive meetings of Warangal (East) and Warangal (West) Assembly segments, which fall under Greater Warangal Congress Committee on Thursday and Friday.

The meetings were attended by TPCC secretary and Warangal in-charge Syed Azmathullah Hussain and district Congress president N Rajender Reddy, city Congress president K Srinivas, working president Rajanala Srihari, DCCB chairman J Raghava Reddy and former mayor E Swarna and others.

Addressing the party workers, the TPCC secretary said Congress was known for the sacrifices made by its leaders for the welfare of the nation.

The party president Sonia Gandhi accorded Statehood to Telangana despite opposition from different quarters and thus, she kept the promise made to the people in the State.

However, the TRS, which came to power after formation of the separate Telangana has been deceiving the people. The party leadership which failed to deliver the election promises providing like jobs to each household was now coming up with fresh promises, he said.

Hitting out at the Congress leaders who joined the TRS, Hussain said those, who quit the party, were traitors and opportunists.

They are the defectors who amassed wealth while in Congress and deserted the party when it was going through troubled times, he lamented.

The TPCC leader asked the city Congress leadership to constitute mandal and divisional and booth committees to streamline the party’s functioning. Those who were working for the party would get due recognition in the days to come, he asserted.

Addressing the gathering, Srihari said even as a few leaders have quit, the Congress in the town was still strong as real Congress workers were with the party while Rajender Reddy said those left the party should not be allowed to come back.

The party leaders N Srinivas, B Judson, K Srinivas, P Padma, T Veeranna, corporators L Mounica Reddy and J Rama Yadav, B Prabhakar Reddy, EV Srinivas Rao, Mohammad Ankus and others were present.
