Hyderabad: Irked by criticism that the Centre was discriminating against the State, the BJP at its executive meeting held on Saturday decided to go on the offensive against the TRS party and its leadership.

The decision was taken in the presence of the Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. The first ever executive which was held after Dr K Lakshman became the president of the State unit was of the opinion that TRS MP Kalavakuntla Kavitha and other leaders were levelling unwarranted allegations against the Centre. The party also lashed out at the TRS for encouraging defections from Opposition parties.

Manohar Parrikar reportedly described the governance in Telangana as ‘Vastu Paripalana’ and advised the BJP to emerge as a strong Opposition in the State. He called upon BJP leaders to work hard and emerge as an alternative to the TRS by 2019.

He said the ongoing political developments in the State provided ample scope for the BJP to grow into the main Opposition party as the other two major parties- Congress and TDP were on the verge of collapse due to mass exodus of its leaders to the ruling TRS.

He directed the leaders to exploit the present political situation and look upon it as an opportunity to strengthen the party at the grassroots level. The Minister also asked the State leaders to take up a vigorous campaign on the welfare and development schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and the development witnessed in the country in the last two years under BJP rule.
