​Hyderabad: The State government has set a 14-month deadline for completion of pump house installation works at the prestigious Kaleswaram lift irrigation project.

Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao on Monday held a high-level meeting with BHEL, the official agency, supplying pump sets to the project, and TRANSCO officials here. They reviewed progress in the procurement of machines required for the project.

He instructed the officials of the Irrigation Department to prepare an action plan to complete the installation of pump houses in a time bound manner. The Minister wanted all the pump house works to be completed by December 2017. He also asked the officials to visit BHEL plant in Bhopal every fortnight to find out the status of pump house manufacturing in the unit.

The establishment of power supply network at all lift irrigation sites and requirement of transformers for power supply to the pump houses was also discussed in detail at the meeting. Transco officials were asked to make necessary arrangements for the completion of works on a war-footing.

Harish Rao directed officials to conduct a study on the benefits of the new facility that had been established in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Irrigation Special Chief Secretary S K Joshi and Minister’s OSD Sridhar Rao Deshpande and other officials were present at the meeting.
