​Hyderabad: About 200 passengers who were supposed to go to Mumbai faced trouble due to technical glitches in the Air India flight that arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport from Jeddah.

Sources said that the passengers also were panicked when a hand-held fire extinguisher cylinder fell down and the powder in it spilled into the air during when stampede occurred at RGIA.

The flight AI 966 from Jeddah has landed it Shamshabad at around 7 am. It was scheduled to leave to Mumbai at 9.30 am but due to some technical glitches in the flight the passengers were asked to move to the lounge and wait for some time.

As it was getting late and the Air India personnel were also not sure about the time of departure of the flight, the passengers reportedly staged a protest. During the protest, a mild stampede took place and a hand-held fire extinguisher fell down on the ground.

The powder used to doze off the fires was spilled into the air, which created eye-irritation to the passengers. Meanwhile, the alerted airport personnel controlled the situation and by 11.30 pm the flight took off to Mumbai, sources said.
