Hyderabad: Telangana State BJP on Thursday alleged that the government was playing with the lives of the students and demanded that Chief Minister KCR respond on the EAMCET paper leak issue. Reacting to the High Court orders cancelling the appointment of vice-chancellors of universities, party chief K Laxman said the judgment was a slap on the face of the TRS government.

  • Says High Court quashing appointment of VCs is a slap on the face of TRS govt
  • Asks KCR to respond on EAMCET issue

He said that the High Court questioned the necessity of appointing the VCs through a GO when the matter was all set to come up for hearing in the Court. The BJP chief said that the TRS government seemed to have no respect for the Court. The government should have had the patience to wait until the judgment was given on the issue, quipped Laxman.

Laxman said it was not the first time that the High Court had expressed its displeasure over the actions of the State government. Even on earlier occasions, including the GHMC elections, the High Court had expressed its unhappiness with the actions of the TRS government, reminded Laxman.

The negligence of the State government has had a massive impact on the education system and the State might lose UGC grant for universities, Laxman said adding that there were many schools functioning without teachers. He said that free education from KG to PG was restricted to becoming a mere slogan of the government.

Lashing out at the government on the EAMCET question paper leak, the party alleged that the government was playing with the lives of the students. Party MLA NVSS Prabhakar demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao clarify on the scam. He said there were reports that the prime accused in the EAMCET scam, Rajagopal is believed to have moved around freely in the Secretariat.

Prabhakar also criticised the Health Minister for the latter’s silence on important issues. “People died in Gandhi hospital due to a power outage, but the Health Minister did not take any action. The silence of government is giving rise to speculation of large-scale corruption,” said Prabhakar.

He also alleged that Ministers did not have command over their departments. He said that if corrupt Ministers were not removed, people would think that the Chief Minister KCR was encouraging corruption. He accused the TRS of being active only in encouraging defections and
promoting group politics.
