Warangal: Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari asked the members of Jana Vignana Vedika to go extensively into the rural areas spreading scientific knowledge among the masses.

He said majority of the population in rural areas were still influenced by blind beliefs, which often lead to unwarranted incidents. Some persons with selfish interests promote blind beliefs and there was an urgent need to educate people to think rationally.

The Deputy CM inaugurated Jana Vignana Kendram in Hanamkonda on Thursday, built by Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV) Warangal district committee to cultivate scientific zeal among the students and common public.

Addressing the gathering, he said some times the government would not be able to deal with people’s blind beliefs affectively. In such cases the role of organisations like Jana Vignana Vedika would be crucial, he added.

For instance, people in villages allegedly kill their neighbours in the name of black magic and abstain from taking medical assistance, when affected by seasonal diseases, which they presume as some sort of curse.

The JVV should come up with programmes to deal with such things.
