Hyderabad: Justice M S Ramachandra Rao of the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday refused to give directions to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to allow the Filmnagar Club to be reopened.

The judge was dealing with a writ plea challenging the action of the civic authorities who sealed entire premises of the club without issuing any prior notice under the GHMC Act.

The petitioner prayed the court to declare the action on the part of GHMC as illegal. Counsel for GHMC, however, submitted to the court that the authorities had sealed the premises of the Club following death of two construction workers due to collapse of an under-construction portico inside the centre on July 24.
