With the value of property documents seized from various residences and hide-outs of renegade Mohammed Nayeemuddin running in to thousands of crores and the recovery of a personal diary listing out payments to politicians and policemen, Director-General of Police Anurag Sharma has ordered an inquiry into the episode by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Hyderabad: With the value of property documents seized from various residences and hide-outs of renegade Mohammed Nayeemuddin running in to thousands of crores and the recovery of a personal diary listing out payments to politicians and policemen, Director-General of Police Anurag Sharma has ordered an inquiry into the episode by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The SIT, whose composition would be announced on Wednesday, would carry out a detailed investigation in to personal diary, hundreds of sale deeds, GPAs (General Power of Attorney) and other land documents that were seized from the house of Nayeem, benamis and his relatives.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Nayeemuddin, the Maoist-turned-gangster, had amassed properties worth thousands of crores in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, and also in neighbouring states.
The 24-hour-long searches conducted at Nayeem’s house at Alkapuri Township in Narsingi police station limits and his hideouts at Vanasthalipuram and other places in Hyderabad by special teams resulted in the seizure of hundreds of land documents in the name of his relatives, friends and benamis.
Several politicians and policemen, who had until recently hobnobbed with the renegade until his encounter 24 hours ago, are reportedly worried ever since news came out that special teams stumbled upon Nayeem’s personal diary. The diary reportedly has the names of recipients of cash and the list of businessmen and policemen whom the deceased gangster had paid off in the past two decades.
The Cyberabad police said that they seized several money transaction receipts from Nayeem’s bedroom in Alkapuri Colony in Narsingi, where his associates Farhana (cook) and Afsha (driver’s wife) were arrested.
As many as 51 plots, each measuring 300 sq yard in Bommanaplly village of Bhongir mandal, 125 plots in Bhongir town varying from 70 sq yards to 1,508 sq yards, details of plots at Saroornagar, Ghatkesar, Ramanthapur, Attapur, Kondapur, Ameenpur in Medak, Mansoorabad,
Tarnaka, Nagnoor in Karimnagar, Bairamalguda, Keesara, Saidabad and 67 acres of land in Kondapur, were recovered from his home, apart from documents of money transactions worth Rs 3.5 crore with one Veeramallu Anjaneyulu, brother-in-law-of ex-MLA Sudheer Reddy, settlement of lands with one Metta Srinivasulu,
an MoU made with Sri Sai Constructions and Developers of one Venkatesh Goud, will deed of one Lal Bhai of Gowlipura with reference of Mansoorabad DSP, details of lands belonging to one Gayathri of Chinna Kakani of Guntur, land details of Mansoorabad DSP and several others along with some FIR copies.
The 67-acre land in Kondapur is approximately valued at about Rs 1,675 crore in open market. Couple of diamond watches, over 1.9 kg gold, 230 mobile phones of various make, Rs 2.08 crore in cash and 877 grams silver ornaments were recovered, the police said adding that a huge quantity of voter IDs and passport photographs, medicines and a bullet proof jacket were also recovered from his house in Narsingi.
On Tuesday, the police produced the arrested Afsha and Farhana in the Rajendranagar court, which sent the accused to 14-day judicial custody. Later, following a plea by police, the court granted three-day custody of the accused to the Cyberabad police for questioning.
Meanwhile, the police have simultaneously searched the houses of Nayeem’s associates Asmath Tajammul Ara at Chaithanyapuri Colony in Nalgonda, Gummadivelli Sreenu alias Tamata Sreenu at Nalgonda, Shaik Jahangir, Md Nasar, K Shankar, T Venkatesham at Bhongir, houses of Syed Farzana and Syed Sultana of Miryalaguda.
They all have been arrested following seizure of huge quantity of arms and ammunition, documents of land settlements, cash, laptops, computers, mobile phones, swords and other incriminating material.
Speaking to media, Shamshabad DCP Sunpreet Singh said, “Several documents recovered from Nayeemuddin have to be verified. Questioning of the arrested persons will give us more information.”
The two female associates of Nayeem, who were arrested from his house at Narsingi, told the police that Nayeem had trained them to use weapons and also other self-defence techniques.
In the remand copy, the police have reportedly mentioned that the arrested women have confessed to have participated in several crimes under the leadership of Nayeem. They told that Nayeem was operating gangs for extortion and settlements. He also indulged in murders, kidnap and also targeted realtors and extorted cash from several rich people.
Following the encounter of Nayeem, hundreds of his followers and associates have gone underground fearing arrest. With the preliminary inputs received by investigators, police have reportedly arrested Nayeem’s driver Sridhar Goud, who escaped from Shadnagar during the encounter. Police have detained two more persons along with Goud and are questioning them to find out details of other absconding associates.
Meanwhile, the deceased gangster Nayeemuddin’s mother Tahera Begum on Tuesday alleged that the police had picked up her son along with three other family members about two days ago, and returned her son’s body. Nayeem was gunned down by the Telangana police at Millennium Township in Shadnagar during early hours on Monday. The police said that they only retaliated when Nayeem and his associate opened fire.
Nayeem’s body was sent to his home in Bhongir on Tuesday, where last rites were performed in the evening. “Police had picked up her son along with his wife, nephew and another relative about two days ago from home. They returned my son’s body today. Police used my son. They first took his help after coming out of Maoists and now killed him by branding him a gangster,” alleged, Nayeem’s mother Tahera Begum.
