Kamareddy: With the 17 new districts in Telangana likely to come into being on the Dasara day, efforts are on at a fast pace to carve out Kamareddy as a district. Officials, who were busy with the Haritha Haram works during the last one month, have turned their focus on Kamareddy, with four Assembly constituencies.

They are having it easy, as there is no difference of opinion on the division of Nizamabad, which itself will have five constituencies. There is no clarity yet on the creation of new mandals.

Efforts are on to locate government offices in Kamareddy following orders issued by Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to complete the process of department-wise division of the districts. Consequently, efforts have been speeded up to achieve the same.

Collector Dr Yogita Rana and Joint Collector Ravinder Reddy two months back had inspected the Minority Welfare Gurukul Bhavan, on the outskirts of Kamareddy, as it has been found suitable for the Collectorate.

Of the 100 acres of government land on the outskirts of Adlur, adjacent to the Nizamabad-Kamareddy National Highway, 85 acres is likely to be taken over for the Collectorate.

The Police Department has sought 30 acres for SP’s office, DPO and parade grounds. A debate is on as to the location of Nagireddipet mandal, on the Nizamabad border, 20 km from Medak.

Public representatives of Kamareddy and Yellareddy are reportedly unwilling to let go of Nagireddipet mandal, as it has the Maltummedda seed production centre, Pocharam reserve forest, besides the Pocharam project.

Youth and educationists have demanded location of Nagireddypet in Medak district, as it will be close to the district centre.
