Hyderabad: Unveiling a vision document for safe journey sans fatal accidents, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan to lay roads as per global standards.

He held a review meeting with Roads and Buildings officials at the Camp Office and instructed the officials to study the standards being maintained in the US and Europe and prepare a vision document. He stressed the need to take measures to ensure that there are no fatal accidents.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to launch road laying works immediately. He said the government would acquire land, if necessary, to ensure that better roads are laid. He directed the officials to prepare detailed project reports for building regional ring road at a stretch of 330 km beyond outer ring road for better connectivity with districts.

The State government accorded top priority to the roads and need of the hour was to ensure safe journey, KCR said. The Centre had sanctioned 2,500 km national highway roads in the State.

The State government would also build good roads. He felt that “build, operate and transfer” model would help keep the roads in good condition. The Chief Minister directed the officials to build road over bridges and underbridges to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
