Hyderabad: Setting deadline for each ongoing irrigation project, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday instructed the officials to complete the project works in a time bound manner.

Harish held a nine-hour-long review meeting on the progress of project works, land acquisition and the hurdles that were coming in the way to take up new projects.

He wanted the Sriram Sager Project second phase, Singuru canal, Kalwakurthy, Nettempadu, Koilsagar and Bhima project works to be completed by next Kharif season so that water could be provided to new ayacut areas under the projects.

Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had targeted the completion of Sripada Yellampally and Kaleswaram projects by 2018 and speedy completion of Alimineti Madhava Reddy tunnel project.

The long-pending Devadula project should be completed in a year, he said. The plan of action prepared for the completion of medium projects like Kinnerasani, Palem Vagu, Golla Vagu, Komaram Bheem, Pedda Vagu and Mattadi Vagu was also discussed. Harish sorted railway crossing problems in executing the works and delay in tendering process.

He instructed the officials to take up a special drive for land acquisition for Mid Manair and Yellampally projects. Roads and Building Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Special Chief Secretary to Irrigation SK Joshi and Minister OSD Sridhar Rao Deshpande and other officials took part in the meeting.
