Justice Raja Elango of the High Court at Hyderabad permitted the Power Grid Corporation to proceed with laying high transmission lines in Kamareddy Distirct.

The judge, however, said such transmission lines alongside the tower would be proceeded with after paying damages to the writ petitioner, Shyam Reddy, a local land owner.

The petitioner complained that the Power Grid Corporation was proceeding to lay a transmission tower on his land and laying high tension wires over his lands without acquiring the lands and that the same was illegal.

Counsel for the Power Grid Corporation pointed out that the petitioner was at best entitled for damages or compensation as determined by the statutory authority and the process of laying the lines cannot be interdicted.

The judge granted time to the Corporation to file its response and directed that it could continue with the works after paying the initial compensation to the petitioner.
